- Lespedeza thunbergii Little Volcano, also known as Bush Clover, is a spectacular specimen with a unique growth habit. It matures at 6 to 8 feet tall with a spread that is often wider than its height. Its long, flexible, arching branches are tightly covered in soft, sage-green, trifoliate leaves. The plant produces cascades of long-lasting, small, pea-shaped, vibrant purple-pink blooms that literally cover the plant from mid-summer to late fall.
- This plant is a sterile, non-invasive cultivar, making it a great choice for gardeners who want beautiful, late-season blooms without the worry of unintended spread. It is moderately drought-tolerant once well-established and can thrive in a wide range of well-draining soil types. It is also moderately cold-tolerant when winter dormant.
