In the rain soaked fields of Northern Ireland, a picture of rural farmland, cattle and tractors, a war is being fought. Hidden in the farms and villages of South Armagh are the men and women of the Provisional Irish Republican Army, those fighting for a free and independent Ireland, united with the South and rid of the British. Claiming to be the true descendants of the Easter Uprising for refusing to negotiate or in their eye capitulate to the British Government, they continue a terrorist campaign of bombing and violence, often against their own people, to try and force the British out. Well armed and supported by foreign Governments and terrorist organizations, South Armagh has become an efficient and feared part of the IRA and with that success has come confidence and arrogance, and it will be that arrogance that will lead to their downfall. Within their ranks, the IRA have politicians, psychopaths, day dreamers who see themselves as warriors of old and true believers in independence for their country. Sadly for the true believers, the other elements will bring them down. The politicians will seek power at any level, including spying for the enemy, the Psychopaths will commit atrocities that turn their own against them and the warriors of old will find they are no match for the modern British soldier. While the factions argue amongst themselves or trumpet their successes, they are unaware that a small unit of dedicated soldiers watch them from the dark, they are unaware of the men of the Close Observation Platoon.
